Favorite bands: Anthony Hamilton, John Legend, Death Cab for Cutie, Counting Crows, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Dave Matthews band, Copeland, John Mayer, Paul Simon, Bill Withers, James Taylor, and Ray Charles.

I joined Darcy because I liked what they were doing with harmonies. I'd never really heard a rock band do barbershop numbers before. They had a great sound, but I could tell there was one thing missing, the bass line. I came on board the very week Darcy started recording the album "The Brighterside." It was sort of a trial by fire, I guess you could say. After a week with Delegard (the producer) breathing down my neck, I was locked in, like a monkey locked in a spaceship just about launch into space where it will likely die. Unlike the poor monkey, however, I had the presence of mind to pack a lunch.

Hopefully we won't die in space. Hopefully we'll write songs that people will like, and we'll put on a show that people will talk about.
